“I started looking for a home for me and my daughters during a crazy housing market,” Maggie says.
That’s kind of an understatement. Maggie started looking for a home in 2020 – a.k.a. the year of Covid, where there were hardly any homes for sale and those that were on the market were priced high. Most buyers were looking for months on end and making multiple offers.
But Maggie didn’t have that kind of time. “I don’t know, I just got very lucky,” Maggie says. “It had been 15 years since I lived on my own. Like most people, I got married and had kids. But after getting divorced, I needed to quickly find a space for my girls and me. I found this house online and knew it was the one.”
But Maggie hadn’t even looked at any other houses, so she went to see another one just to have something to compare to. “After going through so much change in a short time, I wanted my daughters to each have their own space, their own rooms. This was a four-bedroom house. The space was right. And it just felt right in my gut. So I made an offer and they accepted.”
But could a mortgage company move as fast as Maggie’s luck was moving? “Michael at Fountain Mortgage closed our loan in 28 days. Another miracle during Covid!” Maggie says. “He told me exactly what I needed to do and how to do it to make sure everything fell into place.”
“I am proud to show my daughters that their mom can provide for them on her own,” Maggie says. “I want them to know they can do anything they want to do in life and that even when things don’t work out as expected, they can pivot, be independent, and thrive.”
