Big Brother Big Sisters of Kansas City
BBBS serves children from a one-parent home in the Kansas City community. Kids from a one-parent home make up 25% of the population. That 25% makes up 90% of our juvenile court cases, 90% of our high school dropouts and 60% of our teen suicides. BBBS is working closely to increase graduation rates, keep kids out of the justice system, and improve their self esteem.
Special Olympics Kansas
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Veterans Community Project
Veterans Community Project is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took the oath for our country. They are determined to make a difference in the lives of homeless Veterans, a task accomplished by the community for the community. They are building a specialized community of tiny-homes and onsite services to provide housing stability and address the underlying cause of the Veteran’s homelessness.
Urban League of Kansas City
The mission of the Urban League of Kansas City is to enable African Americans and other disadvantaged persons to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.
